To anyone going through infertility I will say from my experience it is a daily decision to remain positive and to continue putting one foot in front of the other.
My husband and I struggled with infertility for five long years. During that time what seemed to be the hardest was how many close friends were getting pregnant. Every announcement would crush me to my core. Also we were considered an “unknown” case of infertility. This was brutal. I just wanted to know what the problem was and fix it. I was completely healthy, same as my husband. Doctors couldn’t understand why nothing was working.
We tried it all – fertility meds, IUI, IVF, and through that all I was making dietary changes, doing acupuncture and relaxation methods… you name it.
The last-resort for me was surgery as an exploratory method to see what was going on.
We finally got our answer I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. One of the worst cases that the head of fertility at the hospital had seen.

Straight after the surgery we went on to conceive our healthy beautiful baby boy April 2019.
Just a short time after that we ended up conceiving natural identical twins who are due to arrive May 2020. We are completely amazed and feel extremely blessed.
Now looking back on our journey, I understand some of it. The people that I have met that have encouraged me and the people I’ve been able to encourage and share my story with is what life is all about.
I have always had a faith ever since I was little. But during the fertility struggle I learned to put all my trust in God not just sometimes. It was quite the roller coaster my husband and I went on together and grew immensely sharing our inmost thoughts and relying on one another in ways we’ve never thought we needed to.
Infertility is a dark road to go down, and being on the other side of it I can look back and see that it was just a glimpse in my life it wasn’t the whole story. Each person’s path to achieve what they want is different – some go on for years and years and others find unique ways to have children.
That being said, wherever you are on this journey, just starting out or years into the process, please know you are not alone. Surround yourself with people who push you to continue, and never give up!

I wrote a blog post at the darkest times (after I miscarried from the IVF). Here is a link: https://eliciastalker.wordpress.com/2018/04/25/the-journey-begins/.
